Off to Vegas!
Heading to the airport soon! The Half Marathon starts at 6:15am, that's kinda early and it's really cold in Las Vegas that time of the year. It's about 0 degrees Celcious.
I also got my Team Challenge shirt last week. :)

Back!
I am running again - after about 6 weeks. The pain is pretty much non existent. The foot just feels a little shaky and I am anxious running faster (running now an ~8:30 pace). Anyways, it's good to be back! And the Las Vegas Half Marathon is just around the corner.

Stress Fracture on heel bone
No running for the last 2 weeks. Went to get an MRI done and as it turns out I have a stress fracture on my right heel bone - have to pause running for 6-8 weeks to recover fully.
Started swimming instead - which is a good preparation since I want to do my first triathlon in 2010.

Recovery Week - Oh, Achilles... :(
Although I had planned a recovery week, this is a little more then I wanted. Ran only 3 miles this week (1 on Monday and two this Saturday). Mr. Achilles is making troubles... will keep on slowing down with running, until I can put full pressure on my foot during runs - otherwise it doesn't make much sense.

21 miles on Saturday!
What a day. What a run!
Did a long run to get in shape for the Seattle Marathon. 21 miles in 2:38
The weather is chilly and windy, especially on the way back from Seward Park along Lake Washington I had to deal with headwind. Already wondering if I will ever be able to make a negative split on a run that long - big problem with this course is that it goes uphill the second half. Anyway, I am feeling good and actually less exhausted then I thought. The runs during the week certainly show to pay off!

Anniversary: A year of running!
It is now a year ago that I decided to become a long distance runner. And it is amazing. So far I participated in 3 half marathons and one full marathon. Wherever I travel to, I go running - it's awesome. Thinking back that for instance I ran in the mountains of Utah is just a blast!
Total mileage: 645.7 miles (this doesn't include my preparation for the first half marathon, I only started tracking distances on July, 11th - with this very blog. So let's see how many more miles I will add to that for my one year of tracking runs! :)
Catching up on tracking runs....
4 miles on Saturday and about 10 on Sunday, two weeks ago.
On the memorial day weekend I ran about 10 miles on Saturday and then 6 on Monday.
Overall: about 30 miles

Running in Utah - high altitude, 3.3 miles
Spent the last couple of days in Utah (The Canyons, Park City). Did a 30 minute run this morning in the cold and snowy weather. Ran 3.3 miles. Felt pretty exhausting, especially the up hill parts. The sunrise was beautiful and Utah is awesome.

14 miles on beautiful Saturday noon
This is absolutely my favorite route. Running down to I-90, then through Leschi, Madrona, Madison, Montlake and then back up to Capitol Hill. 14 miles in 125 minutes - pretty normal speed, although I have to say that there is a huge part of the run that goes uphill. (especially the part in the end back up to Capitol Hill along 10th Avenue.)
